Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, IT and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.43% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 6.20% or 12.55 points to trade at 214.85 at the close. Meanwhile, JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) added 5.01% or 11.90 points to end at 250.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 4.30% or 360.25 points to 8706.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 4.75% or 14.70 points to trade at 296.10 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 2.87% or 4.10 points to end at 138.70 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was down 2.48% or 188.70 points to 7424.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 3.05% to 709.00, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 2.88% to settle at 157.30 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 2.48% to close at 2181.35.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 2.54% to 7423.05 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 2.34% to settle at 2643.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 2.01% to 1351.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 916 to 643 and 89 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1365 rose and 1094 declined, while 162 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) rose to all time highs; up 4.30% or 360.25 to 8706.60.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.22% to 15.9250.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.25 to $1512.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.77% or 0.43 to hit $56.63 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.54 to trade at $62.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 70.725, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 78.9190.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.125.
