Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Metals and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.43%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 8.96% or 9.90 points to trade at 120.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) added 6.70% or 169.75 points to end at 2685.90 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 4.08% or 13.80 points to 350.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 3.52% or 12.70 points to trade at 348.30 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 3.52% or 17.15 points to end at 471.50 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was down 2.12% or 17.05 points to 784.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 8.87% to 120.30, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 7.18% to settle at 55.95 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 3.86% to close at 350.95.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.58% to 347.80 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.23% to settle at 785.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.12% to 676.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1133 to 422 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1600 rose and 824 declined, while 144 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.87% to 16.0100.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 3.05 to $1540.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.19% or 0.64 to hit $54.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.64 to trade at $58.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.59% to 71.594, while EUR/INR fell 0.54% to 79.5120.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 97.808.
