Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Auto, Consumer Durables and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.42% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 6.50% or 781.40 points to trade at 12,805.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 2.41% or 68.65 points to end at 2,920.00 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 2.25% or 100.30 points to 4,564.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which fell 0.81% or 25.80 points to trade at 3,176.00 at the close. Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) declined 0.76% or 8.80 points to end at 1,142.00 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 0.61% or 5.70 points to 933.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 6.42% to 12,798.60, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 2.51% to settle at 2,921.05 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 2.02% to close at 3,217.35.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.83% to 3,175.65 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 0.61% to settle at 1,840.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.55% to 7,058.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1160 to 1094 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1914 rose and 1876 declined, while 84 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.38% to 14.06.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.27% or 6.30 to $2,369.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.46% or 0.38 to hit $81.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.33 to trade at $85.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 83.49, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 90.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.67.
