Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.41%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 4.41% or 165.15 points to trade at 3,910.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 4.25% or 62.25 points to end at 1,526.90 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) was up 2.73% or 34.65 points to 1,302.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which fell 2.68% or 128.50 points to trade at 4,670.00 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 0.94% or 5.40 points to end at 567.90 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 0.89% or 5.50 points to 609.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 4.23% to 1,527.00, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.03% to settle at 1,161.90 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which gained 1.68% to close at 5,025.10.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.94% to 567.85 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 0.43% to settle at 1,831.35 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.43% to 948.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1098 to 926 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1940 rose and 1619 declined, while 196 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.03% or 23.10 to 1,161.90.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.01% to 11.10.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.38% or 7.50 to $1,968.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.11% or 0.92 to hit $81.90 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.91 to trade at $85.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 82.76, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 90.79.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 102.16.
