Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.41%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 3.49% or 66.05 points to trade at 1,956.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 3.48% or 23.15 points to end at 688.10 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.25% or 16.50 points to 524.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which fell 1.75% or 55.20 points to trade at 3,098.30 at the close. Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) declined 1.41% or 64.50 points to end at 4,499.85 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was down 1.40% or 10.85 points to 765.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 2.30% to 1,072.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.84% to settle at 1,268.85 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 1.31% to close at 1,094.05.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.06% to 173.15 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.77% to settle at 3,084.85 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.72% to 4,389.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1078 to 847 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1772 fell and 1550 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.85% to 12.30.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.38% or 7.50 to $1,967.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.24% or 0.89 to hit $72.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.95 to trade at $76.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 82.71, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 89.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 103.18.
