Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which rose 5.29% or 36.70 points to trade at 731.05 at the close. Meanwhile, NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) added 3.92% or 4.45 points to end at 118.00 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 1.84% or 31.55 points to 1742.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 4.43% or 35.80 points to trade at 772.20 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 1.39% or 7.65 points to end at 542.15 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 1.01% or 3.75 points to 367.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 3.87% to 117.95, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.87% to settle at 1740.85 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 1.64% to close at 419.55.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.82% to 6901.50 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 0.74% to settle at 3272.45 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.71% to 1063.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1076 to 645 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1950 rose and 1202 declined, while 146 ended unchanged.
Shares in Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) rose to all time highs; rising 1.84% or 31.55 to 1742.85. Shares in Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.87% or 31.90 to 1740.85.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.77% to 15.0600.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.81% or 14.25 to $1783.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.21% or 0.15 to hit $71.44 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $73.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 74.112, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 88.1445.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 92.055.
