Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which rose 4.21% or 26.00 points to trade at 640.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 1.69% or 9.50 points to end at 573.60 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 2.06% or 119.25 points to 5885.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which fell 3.69% or 8.85 points to trade at 231.05 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 2.48% or 7.40 points to end at 291.50 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was down 1.50% or 4.15 points to 272.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 1.79% to 573.65, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.72% to settle at 8979.50 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.44% to close at 1353.65.
The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 3.25% to 230.95 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.62% to settle at 272.95 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.56% to 1883.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 809 to 779 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1305 rose and 1227 declined, while 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to all time highs; up 1.44% or 19.20 to 1353.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.77% to 13.0000.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.50% or 6.20 to $1247.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.27% or 0.94 to hit $74.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.77 to trade at $78.07 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 68.625, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 79.9748.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 94.41.
