Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Power and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.37% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 3.09% or 65.00 points to trade at 2,170.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 2.71% or 42.70 points to end at 1,618.60 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was up 2.26% or 188.50 points to 8,513.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 4.26% or 20.45 points to trade at 459.55 at the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) declined 1.35% or 45.60 points to end at 3,341.15 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 1.29% or 7.00 points to 536.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 2.83% to 1,620.15, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 2.00% to settle at 1,142.20 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 1.88% to close at 1,042.00.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.45% to 535.25 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 1.45% to settle at 3,339.95 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was down 1.23% to 5,513.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1308 to 862 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2318 rose and 1504 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) rose to all time highs; up 2.26% or 188.50 to 8,513.55. Shares in ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.88% or 19.20 to 1,042.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.22% to 16.02.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.35% or 7.15 to $2,031.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.94% or 0.74 to hit $77.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.80 to trade at $82.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.02, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 89.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.14.
