Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Banking and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.37% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 5.68% or 20.70 points to trade at 383.25 at the close. Meanwhile, ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 4.88% or 14.30 points to end at 307.35 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 3.40% or 9.75 points to 297.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which fell 1.61% or 15.50 points to trade at 947.15 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 1.63% or 22.45 points to end at 1351.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was down 1.70% or 37.45 points to 2169.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 5.13% to 383.15, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 4.76% to settle at 307.25 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 3.75% to close at 297.35.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.56% to 1353.15 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 1.41% to settle at 2172.25 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 1.27% to 147.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1032 to 576 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1564 rose and 1013 declined, while 161 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.23% to 12.5850.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 2.80 to $1220.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.30% or 0.89 to hit $69.58 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.32 to trade at $75.08 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 68.674, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 80.2125.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.32.
