Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Public Sector Undertakings and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 2.70% or 9.05 points to trade at 346.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 2.58% or 4.25 points to end at 169.25 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.83% or 4.70 points to 170.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 8.07% or 59.20 points to trade at 674.55 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 2.62% or 10.55 points to end at 389.95 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was down 1.62% or 10.45 points to 636.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which rose 4.38% to 84.60, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.71% to settle at 170.65 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 2.58% to close at 169.00.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.00% to 389.80 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.38% to settle at 638.20 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 0.49% to 1524.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 895 to 708 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1365 fell and 1099 advanced, while 147 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.62% or 10.55 to 389.95. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.00% or 12.05 to 389.80.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.24% to 14.4900 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 3.05 to $1326.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.15% or 0.61 to hit $53.87 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.33 to trade at $62.62 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 69.435, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 78.5615.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.727.
