Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.35% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 5.06% or 15.55 points to trade at 322.65 at the close. Meanwhile, SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) added 2.95% or 46.15 points to end at 1,609.00 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) was up 2.88% or 80.60 points to 2,875.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM), which fell 1.63% or 90.65 points to trade at 5,482.00 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 1.46% or 43.65 points to end at 2,955.50 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 1.33% or 37.80 points to 2,805.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 2.72% to 883.00, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 2.19% to settle at 385.50 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 1.80% to close at 11,810.00.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.45% to 2,956.15 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.01% to settle at 167.00 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.76% to 1,307.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1135 to 1081 and 25 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1957 fell and 1934 advanced, while 117 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.37% to 14.19.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.11% or 2.55 to $2,418.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $80.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $85.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 83.62, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 91.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 103.78.
