Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Auto, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.35% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which rose 4.42% or 227.25 points to trade at 5374.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) added 3.03% or 27.60 points to end at 937.10 and Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) was up 2.98% or 710.20 points to 24549.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 1.47% or 13.45 points to trade at 899.45 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 1.10% or 6.50 points to end at 584.10 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was down 1.05% or 6.60 points to 623.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 4.59% to 5380.00, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 2.66% to settle at 5336.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 2.00% to close at 7603.00.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.60% to 898.95 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.13% to settle at 583.85 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.99% to 624.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 879 to 747 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1611 rose and 1236 declined, while 166 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.54% to 21.1100.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.35 to $1882.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.71% or 0.34 to hit $48.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.31 to trade at $51.54 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 73.223, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 89.9345.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 89.677.
