Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.34%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 4.52% or 7.10 points to trade at 164.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 3.58% or 14.50 points to end at 419.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 2.88% or 11.30 points to 403.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which fell 4.26% or 151.30 points to trade at 3401.85 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 2.23% or 61.00 points to end at 2678.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.76% or 57.00 points to 3180.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 4.64% to 164.50, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 3.54% to settle at 419.20 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 3.04% to close at 403.90.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.17% to 2678.95 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.54% to settle at 16002.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.50% to 2123.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 806 to 784 and 94 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1331 rose and 1247 declined, while 168 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.99% to 22.9150.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 6.30 to $1921.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.63% or 0.68 to hit $41.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.63 to trade at $42.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.33% to 73.679, while EUR/INR rose 0.63% to 87.3540.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 92.743.
