Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Auto and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 3.04% or 17.20 points to trade at 583.25 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 2.74% or 17.15 points to end at 643.70 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 2.73% or 31.10 points to 1,168.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 1.86% or 137.40 points to trade at 7,248.80 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 1.36% or 20.90 points to end at 1,521.05 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 0.92% or 9.20 points to 992.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 2.69% to 1,168.20, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.45% to settle at 248.95 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.28% to close at 1,107.20.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.86% to 7,247.90 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 1.18% to settle at 1,523.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.96% to 991.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1122 to 817 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1843 rose and 1535 declined, while 119 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.04% or 17.20 to 583.25. Shares in HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.74% or 17.15 to 643.70. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.73% or 31.10 to 1,168.65. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.69% or 30.65 to 1,168.20. Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) rose to all time highs; up 2.45% or 5.95 to 248.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.82% to 11.13.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.39% or 7.75 to $1,963.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.14% or 0.10 to hit $72.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.70 to trade at $76.79 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 82.11, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 89.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 102.04.
