Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 3.28% or 6.50 points to trade at 205.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 1.17% or 2.25 points to end at 196.35 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 1.71% or 12.45 points to 738.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 4.97% or 2.35 points to trade at 44.75 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.49% or 9.50 points to end at 263.00 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was down 1.13% or 6.15 points to 540.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 2.27% to 196.40, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 1.89% to settle at 81.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.47% to close at 738.25.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 5.29% to 44.80 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.11% to settle at 540.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.11% to 1490.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 869 to 674 and 86 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1358 rose and 1076 declined, while 160 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.57% to 14.0775.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 4.45 to $1549.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.32% or 0.19 to hit $59.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.17 to trade at $65.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.32% to 70.971, while EUR/INR fell 0.43% to 78.7300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.245.
