Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.30%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 5.09% or 16.55 points to trade at 341.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 3.85% or 23.50 points to end at 633.40 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 3.46% or 946.95 points to 28360.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which fell 6.54% or 20.10 points to trade at 287.10 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 2.28% or 4.05 points to end at 173.85 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 1.55% or 2.75 points to 174.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 3.17% to 593.30, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.20% to settle at 508.85 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.85% to close at 2157.40.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.13% to 174.60 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.10% to settle at 291.75 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 0.92% to 302.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1026 to 587 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1552 fell and 1060 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.28% or 4.05 to 173.85.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.34% to 15.6075.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.42% or 5.50 to $1312.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.01% or 0.63 to hit $62.76 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.64 to trade at $66.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 65.215, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 80.3020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 89.64.
