Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.29% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 2.88% or 3.10 points to trade at 110.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 2.82% or 12.70 points to end at 463.40 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.78% or 197.00 points to 7,274.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 1.37% or 10.85 points to trade at 778.85 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 1.35% or 47.05 points to end at 3,437.45 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was down 1.33% or 12.70 points to 940.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 2.86% to 7,279.10, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.79% to settle at 110.70 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 2.44% to close at 3,475.10.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.41% to 939.95 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.06% to settle at 1,293.35 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.94% to 221.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1132 to 766 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1982 rose and 1378 declined, while 147 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.24% to 13.36 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.77% or 31.15 to $1,791.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.77% or 0.62 to hit $81.17 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.62 to trade at $87.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.14% to 81.25, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 84.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 105.57.
