Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 2.57% or 29.25 points to trade at 1,168.25 at the close. Meanwhile, UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) added 1.35% or 91.15 points to end at 6,846.00 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 1.13% or 37.05 points to 3,303.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 1.26% or 3.90 points to trade at 306.40 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 0.76% or 150.85 points to end at 19,610.85 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 0.73% or 1.60 points to 217.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.19% to 1,164.45, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 1.47% to settle at 6,850.20 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 0.83% to close at 2,595.00.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.79% to 19,600.80 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 0.71% to settle at 217.40 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.21% to 849.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 961 to 888 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1695 fell and 1527 advanced, while 170 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.61% to 14.11 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 5.75 to $1,745.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.46 to hit $80.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.65 to trade at $88.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 81.72, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 83.92.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 107.46.
