Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.25%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which rose 3.84% or 40.10 points to trade at 1084.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 2.20% or 29.85 points to end at 1385.00 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.81% or 2.90 points to 162.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which fell 1.84% or 6.20 points to trade at 331.05 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 1.17% or 11.25 points to end at 950.90 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 0.85% or 2.20 points to 257.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 3.82% to 1084.05, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 2.24% to settle at 1385.05 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 1.69% to close at 162.65.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.79% to 331.05 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 0.98% to settle at 951.05 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 0.90% to 257.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1050 to 517 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1668 rose and 948 declined, while 130 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.09% to 11.1525.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.28 to $1218.92 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.72% or 0.81 to hit $46.26 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 0.74 to trade at $48.87 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 64.776, while EUR/INR fell 0.25% to 73.3288.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 96.19.
