Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Capital Goods and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART), which rose 2.70% or 93.30 points to trade at 3,552.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 2.65% or 29.80 points to end at 1,153.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 1.96% or 71.80 points to 3,738.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which fell 1.62% or 86.80 points to trade at 5,274.50 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 1.61% or 43.54 points to end at 2,668.10 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 1.04% or 8.70 points to 828.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 2.54% to 3,547.05, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.99% to settle at 3,739.95 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which gained 1.27% to close at 5,942.10.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.64% to 2,667.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.09% to settle at 3,342.40 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.04% to 1,844.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1148 to 992 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2142 rose and 1563 declined, while 97 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.25% to 12.63.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 5.35 to $2,044.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.91% or 0.66 to hit $72.85 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.53 to trade at $78.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 83.17, while EUR/INR fell 0.50% to 90.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 102.52.
