Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.21% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 3.70% or 18.20 points to trade at 509.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.18% or 13.10 points to end at 425.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 3.00% or 28.30 points to 971.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which fell 2.36% or 24.95 points to trade at 1031.00 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) declined 1.77% or 18.25 points to end at 1015.10 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 1.66% or 6.70 points to 396.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.84% to 969.55, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 2.67% to settle at 3243.05 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.80% to close at 1376.40.
The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.63% to 1027.75 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 1.58% to settle at 676.85 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.32% to 2668.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 876 to 766 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1451 fell and 1435 advanced, while 163 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) rose to all time highs; rising 2.67% or 84.25 to 3243.05. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.80% or 24.40 to 1376.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.14% to 23.0275.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.82% or 15.20 to $1839.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $53.03 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.10 to trade at $56.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 73.007, while EUR/INR fell 0.13% to 88.8245.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 90.237.
