Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Real Estate and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.21%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL), which rose 4.54% or 11.65 points to trade at 268.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) added 4.05% or 142.05 points to end at 3637.10 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.04% or 7.95 points to 270.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which fell 2.25% or 14.10 points to trade at 612.50 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 1.81% or 11.70 points to end at 634.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 1.40% or 7.95 points to 558.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 4.25% to 3651.55, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.69% to settle at 271.15 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 2.25% to close at 156.85.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.28% to 558.45 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.22% to settle at 150.25 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 1.11% to 1910.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 905 to 691 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1410 rose and 1149 declined, while 136 ended unchanged.
Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.22% or 1.85 to 150.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.05% to 12.4425.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.30 to $1255.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.77% or 0.56 to hit $72.38 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.65 to trade at $76.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.22% to 68.956, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 80.7288.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.06.
