Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 5.05% or 8.80 points to trade at 183.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 4.80% or 8.70 points to end at 189.80 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 4.29% or 36.25 points to 881.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which fell 5.82% or 219.55 points to trade at 3552.90 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 2.60% or 1.80 points to end at 67.50 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) was down 2.29% or 2.00 points to 85.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 4.19% to 880.05, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 3.13% to settle at 850.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 2.92% to close at 2131.00.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 2.67% to 67.40 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.44% to settle at 157.45 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.22% to 80.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 833 to 752 and 106 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1327 rose and 1270 declined, while 160 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) rose to all time highs; up 2.92% or 60.40 to 2131.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.00% to 22.6900.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 2.65 to $1909.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.58% or 0.24 to hit $41.30 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.14 to trade at $42.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 73.459, while EUR/INR rose 0.58% to 86.8055.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.170.
