Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Auto and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 4.86% or 16.90 points to trade at 365.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 4.17% or 42.75 points to end at 1066.70 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 3.62% or 27.90 points to 795.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 2.70% or 6.00 points to trade at 216.40 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 2.36% or 4.25 points to end at 175.80 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was down 2.38% or 11.35 points to 464.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 2.66% to 2855.40, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.56% to settle at 1539.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 2.46% to close at 2711.25.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.63% to 175.55 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 2.53% to settle at 90.50 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 2.48% to 216.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1172 to 423 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1652 fell and 817 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) fell to all time lows; falling 2.70% or 6.00 to 216.40. Shares in Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) rose to all time highs; rising 4.17% or 42.75 to 1066.70. Shares in UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.62% or 27.90 to 795.95. Shares in Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) fell to all time lows; down 2.48% or 5.50 to 216.55.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.37% to 15.7800.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.13% or 1.65 to $1317.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.06% or 0.58 to hit $55.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.46 to trade at $62.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 71.635, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 81.8220.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 95.678.
