Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Consumer Durables and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which rose 3.95% or 6.15 points to trade at 161.65 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 3.87% or 12.05 points to end at 323.65 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 3.50% or 18.80 points to 555.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv), which fell 1.86% or 5.00 points to trade at 263.30 at the close. Indiabulls (NS:INBF) declined 1.78% or 19.45 points to end at 1076.15 and Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) was down 1.76% or 6.85 points to 382.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 4.00% to 323.85, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.97% to settle at 554.50 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which gained 1.80% to close at 544.35.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was down 1.25% to 3672.65 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.23% to settle at 290.10 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.96% to 1616.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 804 to 748 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1324 rose and 1179 declined, while 171 ended unchanged.
Shares in ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) rose to all time highs; up 3.87% or 12.05 to 323.65. Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.00% or 12.45 to 323.85. Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.80% or 9.65 to 544.35.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.07% to 11.7325.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.18% or 2.20 to $1243.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.91% or 0.41 to hit $45.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.42 to trade at $48.05 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.18% to 64.680, while EUR/INR fell 0.30% to 73.7515.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 95.52.
