Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 4.54% or 12.70 points to trade at 292.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 2.90% or 19.40 points to end at 687.65 and Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) was up 2.62% or 8.20 points to 321.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 3.50% or 2.80 points to trade at 77.20 at the close. Wipro Ltd . (NS:WIPR) declined 3.02% or 15.10 points to end at 484.10 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 2.49% or 20.75 points to 811.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 4.61% to 292.90, Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.67% to settle at 559.10 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.47% to close at 284.55.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was down 3.09% to 483.75 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 2.25% to settle at 1127.55 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which was down 1.06% to 1494.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 853 to 648 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1645 rose and 1133 declined, while 216 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.63% to 14.3325.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.55 to $1265.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.51% or 0.26 to hit $50.59 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.16 to trade at $51.62 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 66.846, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 72.8040.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 98.60.
