Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.18% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK), which rose 4.17% or 13.30 points to trade at 333.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 4.20% or 25.05 points to end at 621.05 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 3.40% or 7.50 points to 227.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 4.75% or 18.30 points to trade at 367.05 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 1.82% or 11.50 points to end at 619.15 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was down 2.14% or 20.05 points to 915.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which rose 4.64% to 332.95, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 3.86% to settle at 619.45 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 2.56% to close at 230.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 4.64% to 366.75 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 1.75% to settle at 168.90 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.98% to 1277.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 809 to 800 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1318 fell and 1281 advanced, while 132 ended unchanged.
Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.20% or 25.05 to 621.05. Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.86% or 23.05 to 619.45.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.10% to 12.6775.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 1.60 to $1222.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $66.91 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $72.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 68.615, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 79.5800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 95.05.
