Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 3.32% or 32.95 points to trade at 1025.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 3.16% or 39.55 points to end at 1290.90 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 3.28% or 4.65 points to 146.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 4.21% or 28.60 points to trade at 650.75 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 3.45% or 7.30 points to end at 204.20 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was down 3.27% or 7.65 points to 226.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.52% to 1291.15, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 3.03% to settle at 146.35 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.67% to close at 2646.10.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 3.13% to 184.40 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 3.10% to settle at 179.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.10% to 414.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1240 to 365 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1740 fell and 753 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged.
Shares in Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) rose to all time highs; rising 3.32% or 32.95 to 1025.75. Shares in Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.21% or 28.60 to 650.75.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.02% to 15.7225.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.54% or 7.15 to $1314.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.49% or 0.27 to hit $55.53 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.58 to trade at $63.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.37% to 71.725, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 82.1000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 95.472.
