Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Public Sector Undertakings and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which rose 1.91% or 4.55 points to trade at 242.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 1.66% or 3.20 points to end at 195.90 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 1.26% or 14.20 points to 1,138.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 2.16% or 68.70 points to trade at 3,105.20 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 1.80% or 27.95 points to end at 1,524.10 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 0.95% or 12.05 points to 1,255.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 2.12% to 242.75, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 1.38% to settle at 1,139.50 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 1.05% to close at 8,720.30.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.86% to 1,524.20 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.13% to settle at 1,253.60 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 0.86% to 3,256.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1081 to 998 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1844 rose and 1717 declined, while 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.66% or 3.20 to 195.90.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.14% to 11.11.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.63% or 12.35 to $1,957.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.98% or 0.74 to hit $76.48 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.82 to trade at $80.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.33, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 88.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 105.76.
