Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 2.38% or 141.50 points to trade at 6,075.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 2.37% or 42.65 points to end at 1,844.60 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 2.30% or 99.00 points to 4,410.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which fell 3.25% or 17.80 points to trade at 529.75 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 2.08% or 15.20 points to end at 714.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was down 1.42% or 24.00 points to 1,664.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 2.38% to 6,074.00, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.03% to settle at 1,345.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.76% to close at 1,121.50.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.47% to 1,663.60 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 1.15% to settle at 2,755.75 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.90% to 996.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 986 to 925 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1795 rose and 1614 declined, while 113 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.26% to 11.52 a new 3-years low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.29% or 5.75 to $1,994.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.53% or 0.42 to hit $78.34 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.40 to trade at $82.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 81.92, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 90.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.18.
