Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 3.79% or 86.45 points to trade at 2,367.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 3.78% or 49.00 points to end at 1,346.55 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was up 1.63% or 40.05 points to 2,498.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 3.56% or 54.80 points to trade at 1,485.30 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.60% or 9.65 points to end at 593.80 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was down 1.36% or 40.20 points to 2,919.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.89% to 1,349.00, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 1.77% to settle at 2,502.75 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 1.53% to close at 12,974.35.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.48% to 1,486.00 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.39% to settle at 2,919.40 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.13% to 5,947.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1352 to 828 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2232 rose and 1446 declined, while 109 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.89% or 50.55 to 1,349.00. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) rose to all time highs; rising 1.53% or 195.65 to 12,974.35.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 19.72% to 10.19 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.42% or 33.25 to $2,313.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $81.82 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.03 to trade at $86.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.33, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 88.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 105.94.
