Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.14% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 5.40% or 23.65 points to trade at 461.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 4.35% or 6.55 points to end at 157.15 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was up 2.47% or 41.20 points to 1,710.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 1.74% or 103.40 points to trade at 5,828.80 at the close. Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) declined 1.35% or 9.85 points to end at 720.65 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was down 1.29% or 33.10 points to 2,532.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which rose 1.79% to 373.25, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 1.71% to settle at 229.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.51% to close at 2,309.15.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.76% to 5,830.75 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.37% to settle at 1,066.95 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.17% to 2,776.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1011 to 939 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1928 rose and 1565 declined, while 155 ended unchanged.
Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) rose to all time highs; up 1.51% or 34.40 to 2,309.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.03% to 12.27.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.46% or 9.35 to $2,017.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.15% or 0.12 to hit $80.82 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $85.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 81.97, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 89.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 101.72.
