Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.14% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 2.93% or 32.40 points to trade at 1139.20 at the close. Meanwhile, ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 2.74% or 4.60 points to end at 172.45 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 1.95% or 9.70 points to 507.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 4.99% or 10.00 points to trade at 190.55 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.81% or 11.95 points to end at 413.25 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 2.74% or 8.00 points to 284.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 2.59% to 172.20, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 2.23% to settle at 1132.30 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 1.69% to close at 2085.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.83% to 413.10 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 1.65% to settle at 1213.40 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.63% to 69.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1133 to 492 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1702 fell and 899 advanced, while 180 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.93% or 32.40 to 1139.20. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.23% or 24.75 to 1132.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.67% to 21.1275.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 1.10 to $1927.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.63% or 0.66 to hit $39.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.59 to trade at $42.26 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.41% to 73.312, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 86.5190.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 93.200.
