Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Auto, IT and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 3.53% or 37.55 points to trade at 1095.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 2.51% or 501.15 points to end at 20521.20 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was up 2.19% or 158.95 points to 7440.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which fell 6.10% or 25.65 points to trade at 396.10 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 3.66% or 13.70 points to end at 360.35 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was down 3.37% or 8.45 points to 242.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 2.93% to 1095.65, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 2.55% to settle at 7439.50 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 1.87% to close at 275.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.59% to 360.75 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 1.95% to settle at 146.10 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.53% to 141.95 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 778 to 767 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1209 fell and 1169 advanced, while 184 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.64% to 16.5350.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.45% or 6.75 to $1494.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.10% or 0.60 to hit $53.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.50 to trade at $59.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 70.955, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 78.8595.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.343.
