Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 1.99% or 6.90 points to trade at 355.20 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 2.23% or 7.25 points to end at 332.40 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was up 1.64% or 10.90 points to 676.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 6.61% or 30.00 points to trade at 426.55 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 3.70% or 7.70 points to end at 201.50 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was down 2.50% or 11.30 points to 440.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 1.91% to 676.30, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 1.77% to settle at 954.80 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.51% to close at 2004.25.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 5.78% to 427.15 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 3.31% to settle at 201.45 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.78% to 297.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 993 to 569 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1473 fell and 1007 advanced, while 170 ended unchanged.
Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.64% or 10.90 to 676.65. Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.91% or 12.65 to 676.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.03% to 16.2425.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1293.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.17% or 0.61 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.60 to trade at $60.72 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 71.028, while EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 80.9550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 95.725.
