Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Capital Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 3.60% or 14.90 points to trade at 428.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) added 2.46% or 35.40 points to end at 1473.80 and Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) was up 2.30% or 8.15 points to 362.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 3.39% or 18.55 points to trade at 528.00 at the close. Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) declined 2.63% or 9.850 points to end at 364.500 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was down 2.53% or 26.65 points to 1025.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 4.05% to 430.35, Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which was up 2.51% to settle at 1472.50 and Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which gained 2.05% to close at 555.45.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 2.34% to 1027.40 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 2.32% to settle at 841.95 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was down 1.44% to 1319.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 950 to 520 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1705 rose and 1043 declined, while 166 ended unchanged.
Shares in GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.60% or 14.90 to 428.60. Shares in Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.05% or 16.75 to 430.35.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.48% to 14.8875.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 3.05 to $1254.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.05% or 0.53 to hit $50.97 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.33 to trade at $52.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 66.721, while EUR/INR fell 0.47% to 73.5120.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 97.82.
