Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Metals and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which rose 2.42% or 9.70 points to trade at 411.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 1.77% or 11.90 points to end at 685.15 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 1.72% or 16.45 points to 971.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 3.33% or 252.75 points to trade at 7,345.75 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 2.25% or 65.85 points to end at 2,867.10 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was down 1.95% or 36.85 points to 1,857.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 2.57% to 411.55, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which was up 1.71% to settle at 970.80 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.28% to close at 3,660.00.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 3.38% to 7,340.00 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 2.21% to settle at 2,869.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.93% to 1,857.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1375 to 1209 and 19 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2067 rose and 1879 declined, while 83 ended unchanged.
Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) rose to all time highs; rising 1.72% or 16.45 to 971.00. Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) rose to all time highs; up 1.71% or 16.35 to 970.80.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.72% to 12.46 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.05% or 1.20 to $2,609.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.56% or 0.38 to hit $68.13 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.32 to trade at $71.93 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.88, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 93.33.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 100.32.
