Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.11% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 2.99% or 14.90 points to trade at 512.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 2.68% or 8.25 points to end at 316.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was up 2.44% or 63.90 points to 2,684.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which fell 2.16% or 62.40 points to trade at 2,819.90 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 2.15% or 39.55 points to end at 1,804.00 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 2.13% or 144.85 points to 6,649.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 2.43% to 2,682.55, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 2.04% to settle at 1,466.50 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.17% to close at 1,516.45.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 2.07% to 1,806.00 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.37% to settle at 3,149.90 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.34% to 380.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1093 to 1089 and 19 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1933 rose and 1833 declined, while 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.99% or 14.90 to 512.65. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.17% or 17.60 to 1,516.45.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.25% to 14.22.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.69% or 16.70 to $2,445.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.94% or 0.76 to hit $80.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.74 to trade at $84.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.58, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 91.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.96.
