Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 5.69% or 8.40 points to trade at 155.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 5.49% or 58.85 points to end at 1,130.25 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) was up 3.39% or 152.25 points to 4,640.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 1.65% or 5.45 points to trade at 325.70 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 0.90% or 29.65 points to end at 3,281.50 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was down 0.87% or 4.50 points to 514.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 5.58% to 1,130.60, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 1.64% to settle at 19,562.05 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.50% to close at 112.00.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.86% to 2,526.25 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 0.82% to settle at 1,367.85 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.78% to 861.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1054 to 849 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1774 rose and 1554 declined, while 167 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.23% to 12.89.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.12% or 2.30 to $1,847.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.43% or 0.34 to hit $78.25 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.43 to trade at $84.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 82.70, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 88.55.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 103.59.
