Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Banking and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 5.86% or 199.40 points to trade at 3,604.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 1.97% or 24.65 points to end at 1,275.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 1.79% or 21.20 points to 1,208.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 3.83% or 16.10 points to trade at 404.75 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 2.79% or 10.40 points to end at 362.15 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 2.74% or 6.80 points to 241.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 1.91% to 1,275.85, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 1.81% to settle at 1,209.00 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.69% to close at 910.80.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.78% to 241.70 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 2.34% to settle at 175.25 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 1.70% to 7,701.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1051 to 848 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1804 fell and 1592 advanced, while 117 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.74% to 12.85.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.44% or 8.95 to $2,011.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.15 to trade at $75.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 82.16, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 89.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.91.
