India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.10%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 4.29% or 884.25 points to trade at 21509.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) added 3.42% or 508.25 points to end at 15368.45 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 2.79% or 7.60 points to 280.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which fell 2.30% or 2.85 points to trade at 121.00 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) declined 2.04% or 5.75 points to end at 276.75 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was down 2.04% or 5.05 points to 242.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which rose 3.23% to 15347.25, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.38% to settle at 1700.60 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.36% to close at 2047.85.

The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.94% to 121.40 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 1.70% to settle at 2433.25 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.54% to 494.20 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 905 to 619 and 100 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1412 rose and 1025 declined, while 169 ended unchanged.

Shares in Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.42% or 508.25 to 15368.45. Shares in Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) rose to all time highs; rising 3.23% or 479.65 to 15347.25.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.44% to 14.1825.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.09% or 1.35 to $1555.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.40% or 0.23 to hit $58.04 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.42 to trade at $64.42 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.31% to 70.930, while EUR/INR rose 0.39% to 79.1405.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.925.
