Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.08%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 4.68% or 45.65 points to trade at 1020.85 at the close. Meanwhile, NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) added 4.06% or 6.90 points to end at 177.00 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 3.78% or 9.00 points to 246.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which fell 2.92% or 17.25 points to trade at 573.20 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 2.08% or 8.25 points to end at 389.30 and ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) was down 1.72% or 31.10 points to 1780.10.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 4.54% to 1021.15, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 4.22% to settle at 247.05 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 3.97% to close at 176.85.

The worst performers were Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was down 2.85% to 573.35 in late trade, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which lost 1.81% to settle at 390.25 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.23% to 7606.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 857 to 677 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1360 rose and 1132 declined, while 131 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.72% to 14.3400.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.54% or 6.89 to $1289.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $46.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $50.23 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.12% to 64.095, while EUR/INR fell 0.68% to 75.0174.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 93.84.
