Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Power and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 3.54% or 47.15 points to trade at 1,378.75 at the close. Meanwhile, UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) added 2.87% or 197.85 points to end at 7,085.55 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 2.84% or 15.30 points to 553.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 2.25% or 135.40 points to trade at 5,886.40 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 2.18% or 74.95 points to end at 3,358.70 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was down 2.04% or 21.10 points to 1,015.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.53% to 1,378.60, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 3.09% to settle at 7,097.95 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 3.02% to close at 218.15.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.27% to 3,357.45 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 2.26% to settle at 5,885.60 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.01% to 1,015.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1516 to 396 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2343 rose and 1025 declined, while 124 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.71% to 16.88.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.97% or 18.60 to $1,904.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.40% or 1.09 to hit $76.81 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 1.03 to trade at $83.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.52% to 81.94, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 88.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 102.32.
