Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Auto and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.06% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 2.73% or 26.65 points to trade at 1,002.30 at the close. Meanwhile, ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 2.53% or 30.35 points to end at 1,231.95 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 2.51% or 37.15 points to 1,518.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK), which fell 2.30% or 40.65 points to trade at 1,728.00 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 2.05% or 148.95 points to end at 7,109.85 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was down 1.47% or 47.05 points to 3,143.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 2.70% to 1,002.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.69% to settle at 1,520.55 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.54% to close at 1,231.75.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 2.25% to 1,728.60 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 1.97% to settle at 7,109.10 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.26% to 532.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1199 to 1059 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2058 rose and 1723 declined, while 87 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.65% to 12.85 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.11% or 2.60 to $2,366.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.61% or 0.51 to hit $83.37 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.48 to trade at $86.86 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 83.49, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 90.13.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 104.92.
