Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 9.98% or 71.40 points to trade at 783.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 4.92% or 8.35 points to end at 178.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was up 4.68% or 82.00 points to 1825.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 7.55% or 37.20 points to trade at 455.40 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 3.47% or 27.45 points to end at 761.05 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 2.76% or 20.90 points to 732.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 4.92% to 178.00, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 4.12% to settle at 1825.90 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 3.70% to close at 203.05.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 7.52% to 455.30 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 3.79% to settle at 760.25 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.14% to 283.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 838 to 752 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1284 rose and 1224 declined, while 156 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) rose to all time highs; rising 4.68% or 82.00 to 1825.60. Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) rose to all time highs; up 4.12% or 72.30 to 1825.90.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.91% to 18.2225.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.83% or 10.20 to $1236.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.30% or 2.19 to hit $53.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.99% or 2.37 to trade at $61.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.81% to 70.335, while EUR/INR rose 1.25% to 79.8230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 96.905.
