Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 7.50% or 48.20 points to trade at 690.95 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 3.99% or 56.45 points to end at 1470.60 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 1.19% or 4.25 points to 360.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 2.74% or 551.90 points to trade at 19650.10 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 1.91% or 5.95 points to end at 305.25 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was down 1.44% or 10.25 points to 701.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 3.79% to 1470.15, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 1.08% to settle at 276.70 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 0.93% to close at 1577.90.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.44% to 701.15 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 1.32% to settle at 172.45 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.14% to 731.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 832 to 721 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1263 rose and 1126 declined, while 163 ended unchanged.
Shares in GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.91% or 5.95 to 305.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.89% to 13.6950 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.44% or 20.25 to $1428.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.96% or 0.54 to hit $56.79 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.66 to trade at $63.06 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 68.895, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 77.8340.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.248.
