Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.03% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 3.35% or 160.40 points to trade at 4,951.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 2.87% or 9.45 points to end at 338.25 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 2.53% or 93.10 points to 3,773.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 2.09% or 31.60 points to trade at 1,482.80 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 1.98% or 69.15 points to end at 3,425.00 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was down 1.40% or 22.00 points to 1,553.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 2.68% to 3,771.90, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.24% to settle at 1,621.65 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.05% to close at 2,946.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.06% to 1,483.55 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 1.96% to settle at 3,427.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.23% to 496.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1288 to 947 and 31 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2228 rose and 1666 declined, while 137 ended unchanged.
Shares in Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.35% or 160.40 to 4,951.00. Shares in Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.87% or 9.45 to 338.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.78% to 12.83.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 12.25 to $2,440.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.16% or 0.12 to hit $77.04 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $80.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 83.74, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 90.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 104.22.
