Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM), which rose 1.68% or 85.95 points to trade at 5,193.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 1.58% or 21.70 points to end at 1,393.55 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 1.40% or 51.40 points to 3,730.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 3.29% or 83.50 points to trade at 2,456.00 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 2.94% or 13.60 points to end at 448.85 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 2.58% or 21.20 points to 799.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which rose 1.72% to 5,194.25, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.58% to settle at 1,393.65 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.26% to close at 2,533.60.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 2.37% to 560.60 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.79% to settle at 118.15 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.39% to 1,482.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1277 to 742 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2093 fell and 1513 advanced, while 158 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.10% to 11.99 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.45 to $1,946.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.49% or 0.41 to hit $82.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.38 to trade at $86.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 83.10, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 90.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 102.68.
