Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Capital Goods and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.03% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM), which rose 2.80% or 53.50 points to trade at 1,965.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 1.18% or 2.75 points to end at 234.90 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 0.86% or 13.90 points to 1,632.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which fell 2.88% or 132.70 points to trade at 4,479.25 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 2.49% or 101.20 points to end at 3,956.60 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 2.16% or 19.55 points to 887.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which rose 2.73% to 1,965.65, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 0.98% to settle at 2,480.80 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 0.92% to close at 4,477.65.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.89% to 6,891.85 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.80% to settle at 106.55 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.19% to 169.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1195 to 693 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2025 fell and 1370 advanced, while 118 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.18% to 15.10.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.52% or 9.25 to $1,786.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.23% or 0.20 to hit $87.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.53 to trade at $94.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.19% to 81.21, while EUR/INR rose 0.97% to 84.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 105.82.
