Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which rose 5.94% or 92.85 points to trade at 1655.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.28% or 4.05 points to end at 127.70 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was up 3.16% or 28.10 points to 918.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which fell 4.78% or 15.95 points to trade at 317.70 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.05% or 14.10 points to end at 447.85 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 2.88% or 21.30 points to 717.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 4.52% to 143.25, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 3.36% to settle at 127.75 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 3.03% to close at 917.35.
The worst performers were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 4.92% to 317.65 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 2.16% to settle at 2429.05 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 1.96% to 315.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 763 to 695 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 876 rose and 733 declined, while 49 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.36% to 15.3075.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.55 to $1366.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.18% or 0.56 to hit $47.99 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.55 to trade at $49.35 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 67.376, while EUR/INR fell 0.19% to 74.6650.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.10.
